Food Relief
Food Relief provides food aid and support for families and individuals in need in the Baw Baw Shire. With the grateful assistance of local organisations we receive food and financial support to enable Food Relief to operate.
Baw Baw Food Relief is an emergency food relief centre to assist persons having trouble in providing their family with basic food items.
The first step for anyone in need of short term/emergency food assistance is to register their details at the Baw Baw Food Relief office. You must be a resident of the Baw Baw Shire and be the holder of a current Health Care/Pensioner Concession Card holder (or recent applicant to Centrelink).
Registration is one application per household.
You can make up to ten visits per year for food assistance; this number of visits may be extended, in certain circumstances after an independent assessment is made. Registration is one application per household.
Recipients make a $10 donation per visit, in return for a substantial amount of food and personal goods from our pantry. Such donations go towards covering costs for purchasing a variety of certain consumable items.
A great selection of quantity of food makes Baw Baw Food Relief a unique service provider to recipients in the Baw Baw Shire.
We offer:
• Good selection of food.
• A broad range to cater for dietary needs.
• We have created an uplifting environment for volunteers and the needy alike.
• Spiritual and pastoral support to those who want it.
• We feed the need in our community to ensure no-one suffers from food insecurity.
